| We brought MIS in to evaluate the condition of the roofs at several sub-stations in the Dayton, Ohio area.
While surveying a particular roof area the thermographer, (Richard Mansfield) notice the power line going into the sub-station was extremely hot, leading all the way up into the transformer mounted on a utility pole.
The transformer Peitro oil was so hot that it was evaporating inside the transformer, which creates a flammable gas. When transformers explode it is because this gas is supper charged so hot that it explodes the body of the transformer, causing power outage. We would have lost some 125,000 customers had it not been for the thermographer’s awareness of this problem.
The next day we were able to switch to a generator and fix the problem without any downtime.
Thank you, MIS for your excellent service.
